Barbara F. Bedell has been investigating, photographing, writing about and preserving local history for 30 years. She has a dozen pamphlets to her name, and her photographs have appeared in several books and newspapers. Collecting and printing old glass negatives has long been a favorite hobby of hers.
In this, her first full length book, she started out again with investigation of one of the most interesting private properties on the east coast. On the way, she became enamored with Edward H. R. Green, discovering a man that was far more interesting, knowledgable, curious, generous and intelligent than any historical books had given him credit for.
At Round Hill, where the author now lives, Colonel Green created an estate for himself, an airport, a radio station, a laboratory for Massachusetts Institute of Technology to do research, and a shrine for the last of the sailing whaleships.
